The next time you see a bouquet of roses and want to splurge on yourself, or want to pick some wild flowers from a field go for it. Flowers are one of natures best soothers for women. They are much more than just decor, they have proven scientific powers:
Tulips, daffodils or red poppies ease stress at work. Researchers at Kansas State University did a study with 90 women and gave them a 5 minute typing assignment. Half the women sat close to a colorful bouquet of flowers and the other half sat near a foliage only plant. The women whom sat near the colorful flowers were way more relaxed than the women who had a view of the foliage.
Beautiful blooms increase your tolerance to pain. A group of women were placed in a lab setup to resemble a hospital room with their hands placed in ice water. The women who had a view of pretty flowering plants kept their hands in the cold water nearly a minute longer than those with a flowerless view.
The fragrances of flowers eases sadness and anger. By the mere smell of lavender during a math exam, 34 women's moods were lifted during another study.
Why do flowers calm us you may ask: Well we believe it has something to do with the early days of when women were left to gather fruits and veggies for the family, while the men were out hunting. Historically, its in our nature.
